AdultWork For Newbies
This Adultwork for newbies page gives basic Adultwork set up information. They chop and change things around now and again, but we will try to keep this page as up to date as we can. There’s also our Adultwork updates page here to keep posted about their most recent changes.
Their website looks messy and complicated but it’s reasonably straight forward – apart from the verification method that is, which can be either super simple or a convoluted mess depending on who you are dealing with on the day and whether you are a UK national or not.
Adultwork don’t seem to give a toss about sex workers (although that would change abruptly if we planned a mass exodus – someone really does need to give them some serious competition). Their rules are getting much stricter with their latest invasion being the roll out of some sex workers having to show their faces on their profiles if they want to stay on their site. Currently they are picking on some people who weren’t born in the UK but it’s possible they might come for the Brits at some stage.
Update: Adultwork have had a re-think about this and have changed their minds – but only because they had complaints.
We suspect they are doing this because of the amount of non UK nationals (often men) creating profiles with fake information and with women who are trafficked. Adultwork have been fined thousands of pounds for a variety of things they have done wrong. Woman Wins 28 K Over Snaps Posted On Sex Site.
The Sign Up Process
One thing we will say on this Adultwork for newbies page is to make sure you are willing to send them a copy of your official ID – because to register with them, you will need to send them a digital copy of your passport or your driving license. If you weren’t born in the UK, they will ask for more verification methods such as a photo of yourself standing by a post box holding a card with your Adultwork ID number written on it. For Brits, they will also ask you to do the same but you’ll probably be allowed to take that photo indoors. They sometimes let you wear sunglasses for this photo. Years ago, you didn’t have to verify, but then they were mentioned in the national press a few times which helped to make their website popular which is when they started laying down the law.
How It Works After You Sign Up
You will have access to a “profile wizard” where you fill out the town you work from, the prices you charge, and there’s a tick box list of things that you offer. Bear in mind that it doesn’t matter if you change your mind when you see the guy. If you refuse to offer all or any services, you are within your rights to do so. Usual consumer rights do not apply here.
Adultwork have an online system where punters can book you without speaking to you first. It doesn’t matter too much because you can just delete the booking but you might want to block your availability diary so that they can’t do that. After you have spoken to them and are happy, ask them to make a booking on Adultwork IF you want feedback. (UPDATE: With the new OECD laws, it’s unclear at the moment whether Adultwork will have to send HMRC details of any confirmed bookings).
You will have to go into your availability diary and make that day free so the client can book you. That way, you can leave each other feedback afterwards. And you don’t have to book anyone in via their booking system – you can do it all over the phone.
You have an option to display your phone number (currently £2.00 a day) and show a green light on your profile which means you are available that day (currently £6.50). You can pay by anonymous Neosurf vouchers which you can buy at retail outlets that have PayPoint tills. The co-op have them. Just ask for a twenty pound Neosurf voucher (they come in increments of £10, £20 and £50). They will give you a blank look; just tell them to go to cash vouchers and the Neosurf option should come up.
They have a new thing now with showing your contact number and it seems designed to scare you into leaving your number up there every day. Basically you tick the box to show your number but then in the left hand panel you need to click on Subscriptions and choose either weekly or daily. Then when you want to cancel your subscription they flash up a message which says that you won’t be able to display your number after (next day’s date). Don’t worry. You just have to re start your subscription again when you want your phone number showing.
You must have original photos of yourself on your profile that are exclusive to Adultwork. Currently it’s free to have a profile and not show your phone number. The punters can contact you through the Adultwork website via their messaging system if you don’t want your contact number on your profile.
A word of warning on this Adultwork for newbies page; They allow punters to sign up to be notified if anyone new joins the site. These men can often try to take advantage of newbies, so please be aware of this.
Some Tips For Your Profile
When setting your profile up, in the Profile Wizard, Location Details section – nearest town, put the town you actually work from but you can also add nearby towns. Then when you pay for Available Today, you will show in all those towns. Then underneath that where it says to add your county, add the county you are in.
It can work better, though, if you just add the ONE town, so that the punters know exactly where you are.
UPDATE: If you want to change your location, Adultwork will only allow you to pay the £5 fee with a bank card. You can get a travel money card from Tesco, Asda etc. You will have to give proof of ID but usually no proof of address. However, they will ask for your address and if you make one up (illegal), they will make sure that it exists on their system – so no making a random address up.
Fill the rest in, and when you get to the Summary, add as much as you can as this is the area that shows up on the main listings.
When you are screening clients and decide you don’t want to see them, they might try to call you another time pretending they have been to see you before. What some escorts do is have a kind of codeword. It can be your working name that you don’t put on your profile. Or just ask them something that proves to you that they have seen you and aren’t just trying their luck.
When people update their profiles it jumps to the top of the page so you will get edged down. Adultwork are allowing this so far but try not to abuse it because they chop and change their rules whenever they feel like it.
A Word About Adultwork Feedback
A lot of the feedback is based on a mutual agreement to swap positive reviews so don’t believe everything you read on there. You could well find that a guy has 20 positive feedback comments on Adultwork but also has 20 bad reports on Client Eye.
You can make your profile jump to the top of the listings by editing a word, but you never know if or when Adultwork will clamp down on that so don’t do it endlessly. It’s good for the punters though if they keep allowing that to happen because it shows we have updated our profile because we are available.
All in all, if you don’t mind them having a copy of your legal ID you might want to sign up with their “club”. If not, advertise on the other platforms that come up high in search (do a Google search for escorts in your area) but make sure you go all out with your photos and profile to give you the best chance of getting work because other escort websites don’t bring in that much work.
Adultwork have a way of notifying punters of new people joining the site. Some of these men will try to take advantage of you so be aware of this. A lot of guys on there will change their usernames so that they can start harassing women again. A lot of them will contact you via the messaging system with a long cut and paste and have no intention of booking you. Ideally, you want them to call you so that your Client Eye app can notify you of any reports.
We hope this Adultwork for newbies information page has been of use. AW also have “how to” videos on their websites. The best thing to do is have a play around with it and get used to the initially confusing interface. You’ll soon get used to it.
