Where To Advertise
Do a search for “escorts in your area” and “independent escorts in your area” and see which sites appear near the top, then take your pick. (For example; escorts in Glasgow.) To make it easier to keep everything updated, it might be better to just choose 3-4 places to advertise your services – you can use the same photographs on all the adult websites apart from Adultwork (more on them below) so it’s pretty easy to put a few identical profiles up.
You could also try the local papers; although most guys do go online to search, there are some men who don’t like to leave a trail and will look in the local rags. We have found that you still get the usual idiots, but every once in a while, that polite educated business person will call you.
We have now and in the past advertised on Adultseek, Escort Guide and others, including UK Adult Zone, but in our experience, we would get around 10 calls a week from each website – which is hardly worth it. Most of these websites are free to advertise on though, so you might want to give it a shot.
Adultwork
This is the main website that sex workers advertise themselves. Adultwork are a nosey, intruding pain in the backside and they will make you verify yourself which means sending them a digital copy of your legal ID, and a photo of yourself holding a piece of paper with your AW ID number on it. They sometimes let you wear sunglasses for this photo, but honestly, it depends who you get on the day as to whether they’ll make you do other verification madness.
If you weren’t born in the UK, they may ask you to go and stand by a UK post box and take a photo there, just to make sure you are where you say you are. They may even ask you to hold a newspaper.
The people at Adultwork tend to be rude and short with sex workers but have been getting better lately. When they can be bothered that is.
They are reasonably cheap at two pounds a day to show your phone number, and £6.50 a day to show yourself as being available on any given day. You can update your profile by adding a comma or something and that will make it jump to the top of the profile list.
They have a variety of payment options, including the ability to pay anonymously with cash vouchers etc.
Viva Street
No verification is required to advertise with Viva Street, but they are far more expensive than any other platform where you can advertise adult services. We are talking around £12 a week to languish on the back page, or in excess of £100 a week to be on page one (and probably a kidney, too, if they could get away with it).
However, they are more respectful towards sex workers despite their rip off pricing. Unfortunately, you can’t pay to advertise for one day; it has to be for a full week, so if you are part time, it’s expensive.
They also have options to pay anonymously.
Gumtree
You could also advertise somewhere like Gumtree that allows adverts for genuine massages. They are very strict and you cannot put the usual profile photographs up, so most people add an image of a candle, a massage table or similar. Have a separate phone for places like Gumtree because you don’t want to answer a call and start talking about sexual services. When that phone rings, gauge what the client is asking for, then if he gives clues that he’s looking for more than a massage, you can send a text with all the details, plus a photo or two of yourself. We know of one woman who does this and she gets around five – ten jobs a week this way.
Some escorts advertising on Gumtree play by their rules and just offer a massage.
They charge around £50 a week for an advert and as far as we know, they don’t take anonymous payments.
Escort agencies often have their own regular clientele, so it could be worth joining a couple to see how much work you get from them.
Advertising as an escort is very “bitty” unless you are on Adultwork and Viva and the best way we have found is to be on both of them. Although we have never paid the full whack for advertising on VS and usually spend around £12 – £30 a week there.
I got caught using gumtree to do escorting. They called me pretending to be som eone interested in massage and then I text the escorting details over to them and they pulled my advert. I tried signing up again using a different email address but I was told I couldn’t advertise with them any longer.
