AdultWorkUpdates

September the 23rd 2024

The DAC 7 compliance is NOT for people residing in the UK.

July the 25th 2024

Fake and scam texts from “Adultwork” doing the rounds again. Don’t click on the link. Delete.

Adultwork currently down due to a bad gateway.

May 2024

Latest fake text going around with the sender named AdultWork. This text says: Dear User, in compliance with new legal guidelines, we’re now requiring completion of KYC verification to maintain your profile visibility. Visit *link*.

KYC is Know Your Customer. Do not fall for it. We cannot say for sure that it isn’t from AW but they will usually email you and not text you.

Update: AW have confirmed the text isn’t from them and that they will never text their communications.

April 2024

Apparently there are text messages going around purportedly from AdultWork. They are asking you to disclose your NI numbers. These are most probably fake and could be intended to use to make a false identity – maybe in relation to the new online reporting laws that came into effect this year.

A request:

The Tip Me tab on the mobile version of AW is obtrusive and indicates that sex workers are trying to get money out of punters before they have even met us. Could escorts AND punters please contact AW to express disapproval of this new feature. It should be a choice to have this on our profiles, not a mandatory requirement.

Reports of AW adding a “Tip Me” tab on user profiles. Edited to add: WITHOUT our permission. At this rate, with all the uncalled for changes to their website, some sex workers will be dumping AW and paying the £12 basic advert on VS.

March 2024

The new subscription ‘service’ AW have implemented is apparently having some problems while they are using us to test it out. It seems to be designed to make it more difficult for people to take their numbers off.

This is what you need to do: Go to My Details at the top of the AW page. In the first box on that page, click on Edit Contact Details. Click the box to display your number/s. Scroll down and click Save. In the left hand sidebar/menu, click on Contact Details Subscription. Scroll down and click on the two choices you have to either show your number daily or weekly. Click Subscribe at the bottom.

It’s now double to pay for your phone number to be displayed. How much money do AW want to take from sex workers and their punters (because many SW’s will just increase their prices to pay for all the price hikes AW are dishing out of late).

Local EScort Search has had a price increase from 2.40 to 3.60. No email or notifications informing us of this of course.

February 2024

AdultWork have now updated their login pages with an SSO (Single Sign On) page. You can still login the old way if you put “AdultWork” into Google and click on the Login link that comes up in search. To be honest, we don’t think there’s an issue with the new sign in page but if you Google “Single Sign On” there are mentions of security issues.

January 2024

Watch out for OECD which is a new law which means AdultWork will be reporting your earnings to HMRC. Many sex workers do not want them to know what their actual job is so it could be an issue. For webcam etc where the payments go via the AW website, the earnings are clear cut. With escorting, not so much but it looks as if your confirmed bookings from January the 1st 2024 will be sent to HMRC. To see your confirmed bookings, go to AdultWork Search and put in “credit turnover”. You will then have a box with a date from through to date until. Click Submit and you will see your earnings.

If you are thinking of leaving AW, remember to ask then to delete the data they have on you. They will send a link to a form to fill in. As far as we are aware, under “right to be forgotten” (GDPR), they have to legally do this.

————————-

AdultWork have told us that for the Change Location feature, you can use anyone’s bank card as long as you have their permission. Apparently the new charge is because too many people were taking advantage of it (changing their location) and this is the best way for them to fight impersonation and the illegal sales of profiles.

————————-

We contacted AW recently to ask if they or their payment processors get to see our personal details and they have told us that no, neither they (AW) or their PP’s see any information. They also told us that they have no plans to add the usual payment alternatives to the Change Location feature.

They could possibly be rolling it out sitewide, maybe something to do with DAC7, but we aren’t experts.

November 2023

Now charging an extra £4.99 to change your location – only payable by bankcard.

October 2023

AW now charging £6.50 to show as Available Today.

There may be an issue with AdultWork sending sex workers emails accusing them of putting “Available Today” in their profile Summary, when they haven’t.

AW are making changes to their website and have been for a while. God knows what they are up to but some people may find the payment options section is a bit up and down at the moment.

September 2023

A few people have noticed that updating your profile too much over the week results in your profile not rising to the top and even going down further in the listings. If you change your postcode slightly to another area not far from you (in the Profile Wizard), it should fix the issue.

They have now added a section to your profile where you can choose to upload a face photo to be showed to “allow selected member access”, whatever that means.

It appears that AdultWork are not going to continue with making it mandatory for non-Uk National sex workers to show their face on their public profiles. Apparently to do with bait and switch.

AdultWork are now not automatically logging users out of their site. Be aware and make sure no one can access your information.

August 2023;

There is now a Change petition to try and stop AW from making it mandatory for sex workers to show their faces on their public profiles. Petition · Stop adultwork making non British girls show they faces ! · Change.org

From about the week starting the 21st of August, people are having problems updating their profiles on AdultWork. It’s all a bit touch and go at the moment and sometimes it will update but most of the time it won’t.

From around mid August, some non UK Nationals are having to show their face photos on their profiles. This may be rolled out to more people or could just be for those who have fake profiles – we have no idea. AdultWork have been sued in the past so maybe they are getting even stricter about how sex workers advertise.

They’re also giving people such short notice to upload their face photo. A friend had her profile taken off within 16 hours of getting their email.
