Advertising Without AdultWork - An Experiment
Is there any point in advertising without Adultwork? Many sex workers don’t like AW’s platform, mainly due to their never ending new rules and their verification methods. So we did a test and advertised on four other escort platforms. The results were pretty dire; basically with other escort advertising websites, we were getting around ten calls and texts combined a week from each one, and as per usual in this job, half of them were timewasters and idiots anyway, or just guys you didn’t want to see. But we had heard about women who say they do pretty well advertising on other websites, so we thought we would try it out ourselves to see.
The Criteria We Used:
The woman we advertised was in her early 30’s with several clear photos, charging the average price for the three areas we advertised in. We advertised her profile for one month in each town.
The websites we advertised on were ones that came up high in search such as
Next, we advertised as a 24 year old on the same platforms for a month and the results were the same.
As stated above, it wasn’t really worth it for us. Maybe you’ll get a different result, but we couldn’t be bothered with having to change our profiles on each website every time something changed for us, such as working from a different location or charging different prices or changing our services.
Advertising Without Adultwork Can Be Done
The good news is that advertising without Adultwork can be done with Viva Street. It’s VS and AW that are at the top of the SERPS. We paid for the highlighted option which was £24.99, plus the usual 12.99 for the advert itself for the week. The results were pretty good but you’ll spend a lot of time blocking the usual idiots. We were averaging around 15 or twenty calls and texts a day combined. We haven’t tried the other upgrade options but we’d expect to be busier if we went for those. With VS you can change your location during your advertising week BUT you have to pay twenty quid and use your bank card for that. With the other options you can pay with a Neosurf voucher.
Update: We find paying the seven or eight pounds a week for the NEW label is worth it.
Advertising without Adultwork does cost you in terms of fewer punters because ideally it’d be great to advertise with them as well as Viva Street, but VS alone will still get you work.
I don’t think they will ask for our ni numbers because AW are meant to be reporting sales made online and not in person, but if they do then I don’t see it as a problem.
And what happens when Adult Work start wanting our NI numbers which it’s rumoured that they will towards the end of this year. Best we retrain for another job.
